What do Kids Actually Do at Summer Camp: A Typical Day

What Will They Actually Do All Day?

A Typical Day at an Overnight Summer Camp

When campers show up for camp, they pepper the counselors with questions:

“What will I even do every day?”

“Is it just church stuff?”

“Will it be boring?”

We’re guessing your kid is just as curious.

So here’s something you get to know before they do.

(And before you drop off one of the most important people in your world for a week, you probably want to picture what it’s actually like)

So… here’s a typical day at Firwood.

Mornings start with cabin groups around a table — breakfast served family-style. Then campers head to their chosen activity class for the week. Wake sports. Mountain biking. Art. Designed for every skill level.

After lunch (with plenty of skits and fun), cabins spend time together before two hours of free time — ropes course, tubing, waterfront, or snacks at the Honey Hut.

Just before dinner, the pace shifts.

Cabins gather for honest, discussion-based Bible study. Questions are welcome. No one is pressured to have all the answers because camp is open to everyone. Most nights, there are team competitions, music by the lake, and a short message about Jesus.

  • Two counselors in every cabin.

  • A 3:1 camper-to-staff ratio.

  • Every day is structured, supervised, and intentional.

So, now when your kid asks, “What will I do every day?” — you have insider information.
